We host gatherings IRL, once a month that are drop-in socials for informal conversations over cocktails/mocktails. Encourage folks to talk about their work — whatever form it takes of paid or unpaid labour — and share skills they have to give, and ask for help they need wherein they have a skills gap. Quarterly workshops focused on education: planning and budgeting for turning ambitious projects into a reality.
We have an online community: for in-between communication between members including the ability to find, search, and connect with other women who may have skills, experience to share that you need.
Members pay dues, and that money goes towards running operations and a dedicated % of all revenue goes towards the Brilliant Friend Fund. A fund that will be dispersed annually through micro-grants to individuals who apply to receive one. Members vote on who receives the grants based on clear judgement criteria (e.g. it’s an idea that has already been put into motion but is stalled, clear budget and plan for execution). The goal is to turn members’ ambitious projects (i.e. prototyping a business, art project, building something for their community, etc.) into reality through actual financial support from their local community. Every member chips in because she believes that women deserve to have the freedom to create. The side benefit is we get to build a community of smart, interesting, world-changing women; who may inspire each other to turn their ambitious ideas into reality.
